eBOOK - revolution is unlikely

"eBooks" are an important breakthrough in the history of the book. They are instantly procurable and can be easily updated or corrected by the author and they don’t go out of print. It will given writers and publishers the chance to sell more obscure books but it may well end up undermining some of the core attributes that we have associated with book reading for more than 500 years.

One of the more subtle trends of today is that our reading habits have changed due to a convergence of other Web trends. But, I myself being a lover of books, it compelled me to have a look at old books in my personal library especially with underlined with important and quotable words like “You live only once, if you live right once is enough”. To have a look on hardbound books after along time has its own charm.

Let me share my claim that reading an eBook is not as satisfying as holding and reading a paper book. It has many minuses also, like you need three things to read eBook – hardware, software to download the books and its compatibility with hardware operation system. Such electronics gadgets are successful in western countries where power supply is without any interruption as this eBook has to be charged from time to time for downloading and reading purposes. More-over the strain on eyes with the use of the eBook cannot be ruled out.

These eBooks, being costly, are beyond the reach of common man. They are also not free from virus and this fear is not possible in hardbound books. No doubt, the eBooks can boost reading but a revolution is unlikely.
